At Cadbury, we are proud supporters of Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic teams and the Official Chocolate Partner in the lead up and duration of the Tokyo Games.

Though the events have been postponed, Cadbury will continue to support the teams at home, and encourage all Australians to join in as each athlete prepares to compete on the world stage in Tokyo in 2021.

We want to encourage everyone to stay motivated and continue enjoying fun, light-hearted activities with family and friends, while focusing on their wellbeing.

Each person has their own unique set of goals when it comes to staying healthy and happy - our Bonus Smart Watch is designed to support your wellbeing.  Through its useful features - it may assist with monitoring the effectiveness of meditation with its heart rate monitor, track activity and movement via its step counter, help with scheduling regular breaks through its reminder function and can track sleep quality when used in combination with a smart phone.

No two people are the same and wellbeing is personal; let’s hear how our Olympic and Paralympic ambassadors  are practising wellbeing.

Vanessa Low — Paralympian, Athletics

If my accident and the loss of my legs has taught me one thing, it’s that life always turns out differently to what we planned and sometimes that “change of plans” turns out to be our biggest opportunity. With the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, I’m taking this time to grow, learn and form new habits of mindfulness and self-reflection. These can often be neglected whilst pursuing a busy lifestyle.

Maintaining my overall wellbeing starts with laying solid daily foundations. Starting the morning off right sets me up for what lies ahead for the remainder of the day. I drink a glass of water and either take a few deep breaths outside and walk our puppy or meditate and set daily intentions in my journal.

Reaching out to friends, team-mates and family via FaceTime allows me to form deep emotional relationships and friendships even whilst physically distanced. I also enjoy downtime and fuelling the mind listening to podcasts and reading. My favourite podcasts include, Your Life of Impact – Brett Robbo, The Minimalists and On Being – Kristy Tippett.  A novel I love is A New Earth by Eckhardt Tolle.

Over the coming months I’m looking forward to having the Cadbury Smart Watch on hand to remind me to enjoy the light-hearted activities that sometimes get put on the back burner when I’m training hard.

Taliqua Clancy — Olympic Beach Volleyballer

With the Olympic Games shifting to 2021, it’s important I remain on top of my overall health (and not just physically).

I perform at my peak when I factor in my wellbeing and lead a balanced lifestyle. I’ve been enjoying simple pleasures like walks along the beach. My favourite walk is from Henley to Grange in South Australia, along a coastal path of Adelaide beaches. Ocean air is known for its health benefits and there’s something transformative about taking a walk next to the seaside. It’s a great way to get active and elevate your mood.

Connecting with my coaching staff and team-mates is really vital during this time. To boost morale, we’ve been enjoying Sunday roasts and Tuesday cooking classes together, hosted by our coach. Pumpkin soup is her specialty, after all, it’s the ultimate winter comfort food.

I’m looking forward to taking part in Cadbury’s Smart Watch initiative and inspiring all Australians to stay motivated, optimistic and forward-looking as we tackle the year ahead! I’ve always been a Cadbury fan (no brainer, CHOCOLATE!) and appreciate the brand’s support of the Olympic team as we prepare for Tokyo in 2021.

Heath Davidson — Paralympian, Wheelchair Tennis

Normally, I spend up to six months of the year away, so during this period I’ve been making the most of spending time at home.

It’s been all about finding the right balance between enjoying little pleasures like Cadbury chocolate, playing LOTS of PlayStation and bingeing on Netflix series, combined with activities that are good for the soul, such as at-home workouts and learning to cook.

I’m passionate about fitness and whilst I haven’t been hitting as many tennis balls on the court, I’ve been trying my hand at darts as its one of my favourite sports.

Socialising with friends is an important part of maintaining my wellbeing and I’ve been catching up on what’s been happening in everyone’s worlds over video calls.

I’m excited to be partnering with Cadbury and sharing my journey towards the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in 2021.
